To our many valued friends and customers,

It’s difficult for us to say so, but the time has come for Urban Vines to move from its Mount Baker roots and onto its next stage in life. The past seven years have been a true labor of love as we have been privileged to establish UV as a part of this vibrant community, to watch children, families and beloved pets grow up, and to meet so many of you who have become good friends – something we hope to preserve for years to come.

The landlords here have seen fit to find a new tenant for this space. While the news was unwelcome, this opportunity will serve as an impetus to begin to implement the vision that has grown out of Urban Vines.

In terms of the Urban Vines wine business, we will be relocating to a space on Mercer and Fairview Streets near the I-5 on-ramp. Once our licenses are transferred, we will be able to take orders over the website and arrange for pick-up or delivery. With much less overhead and the ability to take advantage of quantity discounts, we will be able to offer wine at very competitive pricing.

While this transition is made at the end of February, we will be working diligently to fully establish ZumiLogic, an enterprise that seeks to garner together and empower small wine businesses using various internet-based technologies. My personal passion and career have long centered around small businesses in Seattle, and with passage of Initiative 1183 small wine businesses (wineries, retailers and distributors) will encounter a much more difficult environment, competing with the likes of Costco, BevMo, Totally Wine, and other assaults from “big box” stores and it is our goal to mitigate this.

To show our appreciation for the many years of good will, good friends and good times, we’d like to present one final tasting as our parting gesture to the neighborhood. In the Fall of 2011 we created “Sostenance”, a special and limited blend from select Red Mountain fruit. While we are still waiting on final approval for our label, you will have a chance to preview and place orders. This Bordeaux-style blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot is a densely packed wine brimming with dark fruit flavors, cassis with red berries and fine grained tannins accenting the lengthy finish.

We will be holding the tasting at the shop on Thursday night, February 23rd and hope to see you there. In the meantime and beyond, please keep checking the website and Urban Vines Seattle Facebook pages for updates and information. We remain firmly committed to providing the Mount Baker neighborhood with the highest quality and personally selected wines.

Please accept our immense gratitude for the patronage, support and love we have received over the years.
